The last morning at the mountain and today we are walking all the way down to Horcones. At the picture we see Mattias looking out from a tent that we had borrowed from another Swedish team.

This part of the mountain that was very heavy to walk uphill is as easy as anything downhill. With only some litres of water and reinforcement garment in the backpack are we now moving downhill and home.

After a few hours wandering through the Horcones Valley we can once again see the mountain where we stood at the summit less than forty-eight hours ago. Who gives a shit, "been there, done that, seen that". Now we are going down to the civilization and eat steaks!

During the walk downhill we meet a constant stream with mules and their keepers who are on their way uphill with new equipment and other stuff. It is with a certain proud that we can now answer "yes" to the question "Did you reach the summit?", the same question that we ourselves curiously asked others when we were going uphill two weeks earlier.

With light steps we have almost arrived down to Confluencia and the greenness in the nature is starting to be quite obvious at least in our eyes.

We have now almost reached the half-broken bridge that we crossed when we left Confluencia some while ago, we know that the civilization is only about an hour away. At last we reach the guards at the park at Horcones and receive the final mark in the climbing licence. Our adventure at the mountain has come to an end. Back in Mendoza we register us at a nice hotel and take a bath and eat delicious food for a couple of days.
