Many people have the dream of the highest mountain in europe, Mount Elbrus (5642 masl). The mounatin is located in Russia, a bit north of the Main Caucasus Ridge. Initially the difficulties is to get into the country and to Terskol located southeast of Elbrus.

Of cource, when we are in Baksan valley we never underestimate Elbrus with it's altitude, natural danger and the alpine climate.

Sometimes it can be be suitable to give tip or gifts to the locals, but remember that this people are proud and you shall do it with full respect. For example it's okey to give gift if you are satisfied with a guide or with transportations. The tranportations may vary in quality and departures, that's why we will use a specialized company for transfer. One example of price is 100-120 rubles (3 £) for three persons in a smal bus to go from Terskol to Azau. Well, at place there are tourists facilities, hotels, skiing slopes with ski lift systems. A great place to be, with other words.

Team Hyperactive did a summit attempt 2004-08-21 but was defeated by the bad weather. The group had to turn back at 5040 masl. Maybe Team Hyperactive will try a second summit attempt next year (2005).
